Teambuilders, Inc., founded in February 1998 by Ralph Steinglass, FAIA, is an organizational development consulting firm that combines hands-on experience in the management of both private and public sector design organizations and proven skills in change management, team building and improving productivity. Our mission is to assist professional service firms in effectively managing change, and in developing more collaborative and productive working relationships, internally and externally.
Teambuilders' clients are primarily professional service organizations, including design firms that provide architectural, engineering, urban design and interior design services. In addition, we provide assistance to facility management clients in both the private and public sectors as well as to the design/construction industry by offering training in new approaches to team building, negotiation strategies, mediation and consensus-building.
Ralph Steinglass, FAIA, Principal Consultant
Ralph Steinglass, as the principal consultant and founder of Teambuilders, Inc., has used his hands-on experience in the management of design organizations to assist firms in effectively managing change, and in developing more collaborative and productive working relationships, internally and externally.
Mr. Steinglass works with firm leaders and teams to overcome communication problems, identify obstacles to effective teamwork, and develop solutions to improving productivity. He has been able to assist them in understanding and incorporating the dynamics involved in rapid growth, ownership transitions and in the development and implementation of strategic plans.
Prior to founding Teambuilders, Mr. Steinglass has, through his 35 years experience as an architect, provided design and project management services for complex projects for both public and private sector clients. He was the Vice President for Architecture and Engineering at the NYC School Construction Authority, from 1994 to 1998, responsible for the design and renovation program for NYC’s public schools, and was Managing Partner of Gruzen Samton Steinglass, Architects and Planners, from 1986 to 1993.
Mr. Steinglass is a licensed architect in New York State, was elected to Fellowship in the AIA in 1992, and is currently serving on the American Arbitration Association's Construction Panel. He is also currently serving as the Co-Chair of the AIA/NY’s Professional Practice Committee.
He is a graduate of The Cooper Union School of Art and Architecture in 1962, of Harvard’s Graduate School of Design in 1964, and of The William Alanson White Institute’s Program on Organizational Development in 1997.
